Rivian's factory in Normal, IL builds the company's electric trucks and SUVs, and its cafeteria feeds the people who build them. The brief called for durable, low-maintenance dining surfaces that still carried Rivian's sustainability story into the room.
We developed three custom polystyrene colorways, made from 100% recycled retail displays and trays, for 15 cafeteria tabletops. Each top sits on a baltic birch substrate with the plywood edge left exposed, pairing a recycled surface with a raw structural edge so both materials read honestly.
