Good Land is a community hub in Columbus' Franklinton neighborhood, one flexible space holding retail, plants, art, drinks, and events under one roof. It works as neighborhood bar, maker shop, and gathering place all at once, built around handmade goods, plants, and work from local makers.
For a space built on making things by hand, a surface remade from discarded plastic fits the ethic as much as the look. Gelato, made from 100% recycled bread tags and refrigerators, registers differently across six surfaces: a working surface on the bar top, a backdrop for goods on the retail shelving, a quiet counter at the vanity, a sculptural waterfall table and coffee table in the lounge, and a surface topping the recycling bins it could have come from.
