Ohio State Wexner Medical Center

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center wanted outdoor benches that reflected its own sustainability commitment. The project was driven by the Green Team, the medical center's employee-led sustainability group, whose members treat environmental action as part of community health, and who championed the benches and collected the waste that went into the material.

We fabricated three benches from a custom surface, made from 100% recycled medical facility waste and refrigerators and tuned to OSU brand colors. Building the seating from waste the staff gathered themselves, in the institution's own colors, turns a campus fixture into a visible record of what the medical center diverted.
